Objective: I will be able to learn in depth about one physical property of chemistry. Here are some session plans to help you guide next year's class periods! Finally, it is a high school textbook, meaning that it will be very understandable to us, as opposed to a professional’s vocabulary, and include relevant pictures to aid in learning. Additionally, it is very detailed in its explanations and an excellent source for learning a large amount of information. This is a good source because it addresses most, if not all, of the sections found in competitions. It was published by Houghton Mifflin Company and in it, one can expect to find sections on gases, thermochemistry, and entropy. Mannion’s room, aimed to teach high schoolers about chemistry. This is a chemistry textbook, found in Mr. Finally, it provides useful visuals to understand the topics better. Moreover, it has examples at the end to make sure that the audience understood the topic. Additionally, this powerpoint uses colors well to connect topics and keep ideas together throughout the slides. This is a great source to use because the competition tests us on relationships between the different variables of gas and how well we can apply them to situations. I do not know who published it but in it, one can expect to find information on the relationships between temperature, pressure, and volume and the laws of thermodynamics. This powerpoint is used to teach high schoolers about thermodynamics. Finally, this website has a good combination of words and videos with visuals to apply to all types of learners. Additionally, competitions will include questions on the laws of thermodynamics and has a large focus on entropy, so it would be good to understand those subjects. This is a great source to use because it has a lot of different sections to separate ideas from each other. The publisher is Khan Academy and one can expect to find information on the laws of thermodynamics and entropy. This Khan Academy website also focuses on teaching any students from middle school, high school, or college. This website is also useful because it includes practice problems to test your understanding and additional references at the end to delve deeper into the subject. This is a great source to use because it has a variety of important sections, including extensive and intensive properties, definitions of many properties, and chemical properties. The publisher of this website, LibreTexts, focuses on teaching high school students about the physical properties and chemical properties of matter. “Physical and Chemical Properties of Matter.” Chemistry LibreTexts. Finally, there are a variety of sections to look over, which focus on different parts of the main idea, which is excellent for separating ideas and getting a grasp on one before moving on to the next. Additionally, this website includes videos with both speaking and visuals to stimulate the senses and cement the learning. This is a good source to use because the competition has a focus on types of reactions, such as exothermic and endothermic. The publisher is Khan Academy and one can expect to find information on free energy and different types of reactions. This Khan Academy website focuses on teaching students, whether that be middle school, high school, or college, about Gibbs free energy. These include things such as lab techniques to get the best results out of the labs, information about what tools to use and how to perfect the partner-test-taking dynamic during competition time. The Chemistry Lab for Group C on is a very useful resource similar to the website only it includes a lot of extra links to other resources specific to the Chemistry Laboratory event for Group C. Since everyone else in Science Olympiad across the country uses this website, it makes it easier for us to predict how well they will perform during the Chem Lab tests and actual labs, with the information given on this website. This is one of two most important websites for studiers especially. This resource is useful for both Physical Properties and Thermodynamics because it contains information for both. This Science Olympiad Student Center Wiki is probably the most used resource, for links to other documents and website for creating your notes and rules of the game and how all of Science Olympiad works. "Chemistry Lab." Chemistry Lab - Science Olympiad Student Center Wiki. Here are some annotated notes/places you can find notes:
